Waiting on Wednesday (8)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme that was created by Breaking the Spine to spotlight a blogger's eagerly anticipated new books.

For this Waiting on Wednesday, I picked Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver.

Release Date:March 6, 2012

Book Summary:"Lauren Oliver captivated readers with Delirium, the first book in a thrilling dystopian trilogy in which Lena Haloway dared to fall in love with Alex and escape the cure, the government-mandated procedure that renders a person immune to the disease of love. Lena and Alex staked their lives on leaving their oppressive society, but only Lena broke free.

Pandemonium continues Lena’s gripping story. After escaping from Portland, Maine, Lena makes it to the Wilds and becomes part of an Invalid community, where she transforms herself into a warrior for the resistance. A future without Alex is unimaginable, but Lena pushes forward and fights, both for him and for a world in which love is no longer considered a disease. Swept up in a volatile mix of revolutionaries and counterinsurgents, Lena struggles to survive—and wonders if she may be falling in love again.

Full of danger, forbidden romance, and exquisite writing, Lauren Oliver’s sequel to Delirium races forward at a breathtaking pace and is sure to appeal to fans who crave the high-stakes action of The Hunger Games and the bittersweet love story of Romeo & Juliet."

My Thoughts: Delirium was one of the best books that I read in 2010. I was lucky enough to be included in a Delirium ARC book tour via Good Golly Miss Holly, and ever since, I have been dying for a sequel. The ending was left too open, I still wanted to know if Lena was going to survive after her escape. If you enjoyed the dystopian romance element in The Hunger Games (and, boy, I know I did) I think you'll enjoy Delirium, which is mainly a romance. For me, Pandemonium is on my list of most anticipated books of 2012, even though I don't like the cover.

Waiting on Wednesday (7) and Twilightin' for a Good Cause

Been a long time, I finally saw HP Part 2 and I wanna see it again! But on to other things...

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme that was created by Breaking the Spine to spotlight a blogger's eagerly anticipated new books.

For this Waiting on Wednesday, I picked Twilight: The Graphic Novel, Vol. 2.

Release Date: October 11, 2011

Book Summary: (From Goodreads:) "Having uncovered the dark secret of her enigmatic classmate, Edward Cullen, Bella Swan embraces her feelings for him, trusting Edward to keep her safe despite the risks. When a rival clan of vampires makes its way into Forks, though, the danger to Bella has never been more real. Will she make the ultimate sacrifice to protect the people dearest to her?

The second volume of Twilight: The Graphic Novelcompletes the visual adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's worldwide bestselling debut novel and is a must-have for any collector's library."

My Thoughts: I'll admit it, I'm an art nerd and manga geek. I was skeptical of the first Twilight graphic novel, because other book-series-to-manga-series stories I'd read had confusing plots and were seemingly a waste of time and money. However, the first Twilight graphic novel was well done plot and art-wise, and I'm looking forward to the second volume. Young Kim's illustrations are closer to how I imagine Bella and Edward, more so than the movies. (Although, thanks to the movies, I can't imagine Jacob, Charlie, Mike, or Jessica any other way, the casting person really nailed them in my opinion). And, honestly, since the Twilight graphic novel was released, if done right, I'd really like to see a Harry Potter and a Hunger Games graphic novel series.

And, speaking of Twilight, this Saturday, Oshie and I are attending The Twilight Moms of Middle GA's Breaking Dawn Gala to raise donations for the Ronald McDonald House in Central GA. The Twilight Moms of Middle GA are a fantastic group of ladies who do a lot of charity events in the Macon, GA area.

If you live in the Macon, GA area or can travel and would like more information about attending the gala please visit www.twilightmomsofmiddlega.com to buy tickets. If I remember correctly, the DJ will be playing tunes till 11pm, Michael Welch will be signing autographs, and they'll be heavy hors d'oeuvers.
